When I was younger, I would always think that there has to be something bigger, something better just waiting for me somewhere but I just didn’t know what.
I was always terrible at reading the signs growing up, opportunities came and went without me even realising – that’s for sure.
For instance, and a little off topic, for me to realise a girl actually liked me they would have literally had to spell it out to me – Yes, honestly, I was that blind to it and I sucked at seeing what was right in front of me!
I suppose the same could be said about seeing real opportunities when they were placed in front of me when I was starting out this thing known as adulthood – does that sound at all familiar to you?
Would you be able see an opportunity?
It is fair to say, we have a plethora of opportunities put in front of us on a day to day basis – we a spoiled in fact by all the different choices available to us.
Having the ability to work online means that you do not have to physically own anything anymore…
We don’t need our own shops, we don’t need products and we don’t even need to be paying for staff to run things for us if we decide not to be there.
We have the ability to have our own virtual stores (if we choose to go down that route) running for us 24/7, 365 day a year all due to the wisdom of the internet.
Better still is we can tap into systems that are actually fully automated and do all the work for us (being busy is no longer a valid excuse)!
And this, I personally believe, is where the future lies.
We are seeing more and more big name stores disappear from the high streets, closing down, down-sizing, and some switching solely to the internet.
Would you actually take the time to look at an opportunity?
Let me run this scenario by you…
I am sure if you are anything like the average person these days, you have at least Facebook if not instagram as well?
So, one day you buy something from the shops, a celebrity endorsed product, and post something on your page suggesting how great it is and that people should go and buy it as well – in doing so, possibly without realising it, you have just become a referral marketer for them!
But if a friend were to come to you and say “Hey, I am involved in this great program/system/I have some great products and it would be great if you could take a look and support me if you can“, all of a sudden we seem less likely to actually take a look what he/she is singing the praises of.
Why wouldn’t you help a friend over some mega rich celebrity or big name brand?
This has always been a concept that I have simply failed to understand…
You get to potentially help a friend with his/her small business(es) but 9 times out of 10 we would sooner revert back to the tried and tested celebrity endorsed products or big brand names – which, let’s face it, do not need the money!
What has this celebrity or big name brand ever done for you?
Have they ever given you anything in return for your loyalty?
Strange one isn’t it when you think about it for a minute?!
I love to be able support my friends with their businesses. For example…
- My car goes into our girl’s Godparents garage whenever I need work on my car and in doing so support their business (Let me know if you need a mechanic in the Cardiff area lol)
- I buy homecare products from an online company which get delivered to my door and in turn I help a friend with his business.
- I buy supplements from another friend and help with his business. Etc, etc.
Doesn’t it actually make more sense than going for the celebrity endorsed products and the big branded names constantly?
To support our friends who have a business and allow them to potentially make a little bit of money. Money that could have easily been spent elsewhere on branded products who don’t have our best interests at heart?
Without even realising, by just making some slight changes in our spending habits it could mean so much to a friend who has a small business.
So, what will happen the next time a friend, or family member comes to you with an opportunity?
Will you genuinely take the time to take a look at the opportunity, or will you look away thinking they only want to make money out of you?
The chances are they have come to you to seek your help…
They believe in their opportunity so passionately and they want to share it with you for you to be a part of it as well.
They have seen the potential value it offers and they have brought it to your attention not to make money off of you.
But ultimately a real friend will do this because they truly care about you – that’s why they want to share it with you, because they have your best interest at heart!
